On the evening of September 24, LUYA International High School held its 2025 Fall Semester School Day. The program included a school development report, an explanation of the IB philosophy and its implementation, as well as class-based meetings, giving parents and students a clear understanding of the school’s educational direction and teaching approach.

A highlight of the event was a public demonstration lesson jointly presented by Biology teacher Ms. Ema and Chinese Literature teacher Ms. Tseng. The lesson focused on the connection between inquiry-based learning processes, learning outcomes, and entrance examinations. The teachers not only showcased how inquiry-based learning is integrated into everyday teaching but also provided analysis of competency-based questions found in entrance exams, allowing students and parents to see how classroom learning directly aligns with academic advancement.

In her session, Ms. Ema introduced the case of a Swedish eco-city, guiding students to begin with authentic, real-world contexts, formulate inquiry questions, and engage in interdisciplinary thinking and discussion. This approach helped students see how biological knowledge connects with global sustainability and environmental issues, demonstrating both the depth and breadth of inquiry-based learning.

During the school development report, the Principal Chiang placed emphasis on how the school’s habitual learning initiative is closely aligned with the IB ATL, both MYP and DP. She gave a detailed explanation of the curricular framework, teaching approaches, and school protocols, and elaborated on how these elements support the realization of the IB learner profiles.

The School Day was not only a valuable platform for communication between parents, teachers, and students but also an opportunity to witness how LUYA International High School integrates habitual learning with the IB philosophy. Together, these practices equip students with knowledge, skills, and competencies to face the challenges of the future.
