On November 5, LUYA International High School collaborated with the Swedish Office in Taipei to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Pippi Longstocking, the beloved character created by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.
The event featured theatrical performances, costume experiences, and art activities, allowing students to experience the charm and spirit of Nordic literature. During the celebration, Ms. Helena Reitberger, Swedish Representative to Taiwan, presented the school with a complete set of Pippi Longstocking storybooks—a meaningful gesture that symbolizes the lasting friendship and educational exchange between Sweden and Taiwan.
Adding to the joyful atmosphere, students from Vasaskolan in Sweden joined online, singing the Pippi Longstocking theme song together with LUYA students. The cross-border performance brought the celebration to a cheerful and heartwarming finale. In the art workshop “Pippi Comes to Taiwan,” students imagined Pippi’s adventures set against iconic Taiwanese scenes such as Taipei 101, night markets, and the ocean, expressing their impressions of local culture through creative reinterpretation.
The collaboration not only paid tribute to a timeless literary classic but also reflected LUYA’s dedication to international and aesthetic education, inspiring students to think globally, connect culturally, and express themselves with confidence and creativity.
