LUYA International School actively promotes the Learning Beyond Classroom (LBC) program, offering a series of international collaborations and cross-cultural learning activities. This initiative enables students to apply their English proficiency and subject knowledge in real-life contexts, cultivating intercultural understanding and global competence.

Cross-Cultural Exchange – Learning in Action

This year’s LBC program features a rich variety of activities. Highlights include a peace education project in collaboration with the Lung Yingtai Cultural Foundation, where students engage in high school drama performances and middle school digital tool applications to explore global peace issues. In December, LUYA will host a student and teacher delegation from Beaulieu School in France for an immersive experience that combines homestays and classroom collaboration, allowing students to experience authentic international learning and cultural exchange.

Arts and Humanities – Expanding Global Horizons

Students will attend a concert by the world-renowned Berliner Philharmoniker, join Swedish culture and literature events such as Pippi Longstocking, and participate in the Florence Dance Festival in Italy. These experiences connect music, literature, and performing arts with a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity.

Online Collaboration – Addressing Global Issues

Through language exchange with Highgate School in the UK and participation in a joint SDGs forum with Vasaskolan High School in Sweden, students discuss sustainability issues, practice expressing their ideas in English, and apply academic knowledge to real-world problem-solving. They will also take part in Model United Nations (MUN) conferences and international career development sharing, enhancing research, debate, and decision-making skills.

Technology and Experiential Learning

The LBC program includes a collaborative robotics project, giving students hands-on experience programming and operating AI-powered robots, integrating mathematics and technology knowledge into innovation practice. During winter and summer breaks, students travel to IB schools in France, Switzerland, or the USA to participate in immersive learning programs and experience an international education environment.

Holistic Education – Nurturing Global Citizens

Additional programs such as the Summer Film Production Camp, MYP Interdisciplinary Project, and DP CAS leadership training provide opportunities for students to express creativity, engage with their communities, and transform their learning into meaningful action, embodying the spirit of “learning by doing.”

“The LBC program is not just about learning English — it is about using English to learn about the world and connect with the world,” the school stated. “We aim for every LUYA student to grow into a global citizen with vision, intercultural understanding, and the ability to take meaningful action.”
