To help students develop good reading and learning habits, Luya International School has introduced "habitual learning" into the Reading Leap Program, guiding students to accumulate learning momentum in their daily lives in a continuous and systematic manner.
The project has two core tasks:
The first is a weekly reading assignment where students are required to complete at least one book (fiction or non-fiction), organize new vocabulary words, and write English summaries to improve their Chinese expression and reading comprehension skills.
The second is the daily news task, where students are required to take notes on the news content every day and create a vocabulary list to combine international current affairs with language learning.
Beyond reading and news, the school also extends habit-based learning to all subjects. Students are required to use mind-mapping tools in regular exams and assignments in subjects like Chinese, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. This allows them to "divide, organize, connect, and justify" knowledge, fostering systematic thinking and knowledge management skills.
Luya International School stated that the purpose of "habit-based learning" is not only to train students to absorb knowledge, but also to cultivate students' ability to face future challenges through the accumulation of learning habits over time.
