That vibrant yellow bloom is more than a sign of the season—it is the living outcome of a global collaboration.

Co-hosted by LUYA International High School and the Swedish Representative Office in Taiwan, the 2025 International Student Summit centered on the theme: Sustainable Horticultural Ecosystems: Nature-Based Solutions for Future Cities.

The summit brought global perspectives to Taoyuan, inviting Swedish experts to Taiwan to share insights into Nordic sustainable urban practices. It also welcomed 31 French high school students, who joined local students to form multinational teams. Through full English communication, critical dialogue, and hands-on implementation, they worked together to explore solutions for urban environments facing the challenges of climate change.

Students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds gathered around one shared question:

How can cities coexist with nature in an era defined by climate change?

The summit went far beyond lectures. Students stepped into the campus to plant flowers and trees—symbols of hope for the future. From designing sustainable gardening models and discussing rainwater systems and urban green coverage, to soil preparation and ecological space planning, they transformed the concept of Nature-Based Solutions from theory into action.

Months later, new shoots have emerged. Yellow blossoms sway gently in the spring breeze.

They remind us that sustainability is not a one-time event—it is a long-term commitment.

The significance of this summit lies not only in its international scale, but in its educational depth:

  • Students engaged in real-world global issues.
  • They strengthened cross-cultural collaboration through full English communication.
  • They deepened their understanding of environmental ethics through hands-on stewardship of the land.

When a campus becomes a living laboratory for a future city, students are no longer passive recipients of knowledge-they become designers of solutions.

The blooming flowers mark the arrival of spring.

They also reflect a new generation’s response to the call for a sustainable future.

At LUYA International High School, global education does not simply send students out into the world-it brings the world into the campus, where every new bud carries the weight of international dialogue and environmental responsibility.

This spring, we witness something powerful:

Sustainability is no longer an idea. It is taking root.
